The Youth Endowment Fund was established in March 2019 by children's charity Impetus, with a £200m endowment and ten year mandate from the Home Office.
We're here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.
To make a lasting difference we must do more than just fund and evaluate promising programmes to prevent youth violence. We have to make change happen - changing policy and practice - so that children are better supported and violence reduces.
The self-assessment is designed to support those responsible for commissioning youth sector provision within local authorities like yours, to self-evaluate and reflect on their current approach to preventing violence whilst identifying practical opportunities to take an evidence based approach to strengthen local commissioning. The self assessment will support local efforts to reduce youth violence by investing in the youth sector. It will help take an evidence based approach when aligning to the National Youth Strategy programmes, such as Youth Futures Hubs and Better Youth Spaces or wider government ambitions like the Safer Streets, and Protecting lives, building hope plan.
